Gifts for Her

A gift for her does not have to be pink, scented or shaped like a heart. The useful question is a smaller one: what does she actually reach for at nine in the evening?

These are the boxes we send most often for birthdays, thank yous, apologies, anniversaries and the Tuesdays that needed rescuing. All hand-baked to order, all posted tracked, all arriving on the day you choose.

Start with what she likes

If it is cake. The Mixed Box of Cupcakes is six, one of each: Salted Caramel, Triple Chocolate, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry Ripple, Mocha, and White Chocolate & Pistachio. Each one travels in its own compartment so the buttercream arrives the shape it left. If she has a firm favourite, the single-flavour boxes send six of that one.

If it is chocolate. The Mixed Box of Postal Brownies lets you pick from twelve flavours, or hand the choice to the bakery.

If it is an afternoon, not a snack. The Luxury Afternoon Tea turns a gift into a plan she has to invite someone to.

If it is a shared thing. Blondies, cookies or the Brownie & Cookie Selection Box are what get carried into a book club, a staffroom or a sister's kitchen.

Sending it to someone who has just had a week of it

If the gift is doing emotional work — a hard diagnosis, a house move, a bereavement, a job that ended badly — smaller is usually better than grander. A box of six with a message that sounds like you beats a large box with nothing written in it. Write the card as if you were saying it out loud; you have 175 characters, which is more than it sounds.

Getting it there on the right day

Everything is baked to order in our West Midlands bakery, then sent on DPD's tracked next-day service with a one-hour window on the morning of delivery. Order before 12 noon, Monday to Friday, and it can go the same day. If the gift is for a date rather than today, pick that date at checkout — you can choose any day up to six months ahead, and Monday is a landing day, so a Friday order does not have to sit over the weekend.

Add a gift card at checkout and we print your message on it and tuck it under the lid. There is never an invoice in the parcel, so nobody opens their gift and reads the price.

Keeping and allergens

Brownies and blondies keep up to two weeks from baking and freeze for three months. Cupcakes and the vegan brownies are best within three to five days, kept cool. Everything is baked in a kitchen that also handles nuts, gluten, milk, eggs and soya.
